Sire - Ch. Bamse Boy
Born - July 1984
This litter had a high speed conception. ..We met the owners of Bamse in
the car park of a pub where a quick mating took place. ..To give them a chance the stud
dog owners took Merryg home, travelling at 70 miles an
hour they turned round to see the couple at it again on
the back seat. ..By the time
we collected Merryg the next day there had been several
more matings.
Bear - Wheaten dog
Bear was sold to a couple who already owned a Buhund and
who had indicated a wish to show him. ..We only saw them at one show,
they were obviously novices and did not know what to do. ..After that we did not see them
again until a year later when due to changed
circumstances we had to rescue Bear. ..He was rehomed with an American
family who were working in England at the time, they
eventually took him to the US.
Bruin - Wheaten dog
Bruin went to Hearing Dogs to train and was doing very
well. ..He failed however because it turned out he had
Heriditary Cataracts and the charity could not risk him
having a reduced working life as a result. ..This was
the first time we knew there was hereditary cataract in
the breed and just a few months after it was discovered
major testing had started in the U.K. Buhund population. ..Bruin
had to go to a pet home and could not have done better
for himself. ..His new owners told us that they managed a
sports club in St Albans. ..One day we decided to
look him up. ..We could not find the club so Jacquie phoned up
his owners when we got home. ..We soon got the
explanation - the sports club was in fact a nudist camp. ..When we
visited a fortnight later we found a plump but happy dog.
..Bruin loved it patrolling the grounds making
friends with all the people there.
Bjorn - Wheaten dog
Bjorn was always a happy dog he
would delight in rolling on his back to have his tummy
rubbed. ..A very gentle dog, but you wouldn't think so if
you came across him in a car as he would guard it
fiercely. ..Bjorn started his life as a show dog, with
limited sucess. ..He also collected for Hearing Dogs at which he
was perfect. ..Although he was such a sweet dog he did not get
on with one of the other dogs. ..When an
American family asked if they could borrow him during
their stay in the U.K. we reluctantly agreed. ..We still
kept in touch, however, and he continued his collecting
work. When their tour of duty was over we could not deny
them and Bjorn moved to North Dakota. ..There
the cold weather really brought out his coat! ..Michael
managed to see him on a trip to the states in 1995,
although now old he was still his happy self.
Bamska - Wheaten Bitch
A sweet little bitch, Bamska had a tragically
short life. ..She became ill
and the vet thought she had contracted parvo virus which
was prevalent at the time. ..It
turned out that she actually had a twisted bowel, by the
time the vet realised his mistake she was too week to
survive the operation necessary to correct it. ..As a result she was never
registered with the Kennel Club.
